Your Station, Now Live on Twitch

Imagine this. Your station runs around the clock. Discord listeners tune in every evening, your YouTube stream pulls in new viewers from search, and Mixcloud reaches the DJ community. But there's a massive audience you're missing. Twitch viewers who live on the platform, watching live content for hours at a time. You've thought about setting up a separate streaming pipeline, but managing another encoder, another set of credentials, another window to babysit? That's not why you built a radio station.

We're proud to introduce Twitch streaming in SavePoint Station Manager. Connect your Twitch account with OAuth, and your station goes live on Twitch alongside every other platform you're already broadcasting to. SavePoint handles the authentication, syncs your stream metadata, and even posts to your Twitch chat when tracks and segments change.

How It Works

Twitch is a new channel type in SavePoint's multi-channel broadcasting system. It sits alongside Discord, YouTube, Mixcloud, Restream, and Custom RTMP in the Channels panel, following the same toggle-to-enable pattern you're already familiar with.

What sets Twitch apart from other streaming channels is the OAuth integration. Instead of copying and pasting stream keys, you connect your Twitch account directly. SavePoint handles token management, stream key retrieval, and metadata sync automatically.

Connect Your Twitch Account

Twitch joins the Channels panel alongside Discord, YouTube, Mixcloud, Restream, and Custom RTMP. Click the Twitch card to open its settings.

Setting up Twitch requires a one-time OAuth configuration. SavePoint walks you through the process step by step in the Connection tab.

Once connected, your Twitch username appears in the channel card with a direct link to your Twitch profile. Your stream key is fetched automatically and stored securely. If you ever need to refresh it (after a Twitch-side reset, for example), there's a button for that too.

When you start a broadcast, SavePoint connects to every enabled channel simultaneously. Your station goes live everywhere at once.

The Twitch card shows real-time connection status, cycling through connecting, connected, and streaming, just like your other channels.

Stream Metadata Sync

One of the advantages of the OAuth integration is metadata sync. Before your broadcast starts, SavePoint can automatically update your Twitch channel with:

• Stream title that matches your station or segment name
• Category selected from a searchable dropdown of Twitch's full category database

This means your Twitch channel page shows relevant information to viewers browsing the directory, without you needing to open Twitch's dashboard separately.

Chat Announcements

SavePoint posts to your Twitch chat automatically when your station transitions between tracks or segments. Both announcement types are independently toggleable and use customizable templates.

Track Change Announcements

Every time a new track starts playing, SavePoint can post a message to your Twitch chat. The default template is:

♫ Now Playing: {title} - {artist}

You can customize the template with these variables: {title}, {artist}, {album}, {segmentName}, and {playlistName}. Build announcements that match your station's personality.

Segment Change Announcements

When your station transitions to a new segment (a schedule change, a different DJ's block, or a themed programming switch), SavePoint posts a separate notification:

Both announcement types require the OAuth connection since they use the Twitch chat API. If you're using manual stream key mode, chat features are not available.

Ingest Server Selection

SavePoint defaults to Twitch's primary ingest server, but you can select a specific server from a dropdown that lists all available Twitch ingest points. If you're broadcasting from a region far from Twitch's default, choosing a closer ingest server can reduce latency and improve stream stability.

Built-In Reliability

Twitch's OAuth tokens expire, and SavePoint handles this transparently:

• Proactive token refresh keeps your connection alive by refreshing tokens automatically before they expire
• Invalid token detection recognizes when access has been revoked and prompts you to re-authorize instead of retrying endlessly
• Smart retry logic handles transient network issues and segment transitions without dropping your stream

If your Twitch token becomes invalid, SavePoint surfaces a clear error in the channel card so you know to re-authorize. No silent failures, no guessing.

Multi-Channel in Action

The real power is what happens when Twitch joins your existing channels.

A typical SavePoint broadcast might look like this:

All five channels run from the same broadcast. Same playlist, same schedule, same visual overlay. Each channel connects and disconnects independently, so you can toggle Twitch on or off mid-broadcast without affecting your other streams.

What You'll Need

• A Twitch account with two-factor authentication enabled (required by Twitch for app registration)
• A registered Twitch application in the Twitch Developer Console (SavePoint walks you through this)
• Your station set to Pre-Render Mode (Twitch streaming is not available in Realtime mode)
• A Broadcast License for SavePoint

Encoding

Twitch encoding is configurable from the Broadcast tab in the Twitch channel card. You can adjust bitrate, encoder preset, and hardware encoder settings to match your system's capabilities and your target stream quality. SavePoint uses the same encoding configuration interface as your other channels, so if you've already tuned your YouTube or Mixcloud encoding, you'll feel right at home.

Notice the platform-aware hints: SavePoint compares your station defaults against Twitch's recommended values and offers one-click "Use recommended" buttons when they differ.

Who This Is For
